In 1995, Late Prof. (Dr.) J.N. Kapur, invited leading Indian information theorists - Prof. Dr. R.K. Tuteja, Prof. Dr. D.S. Hoods, Dr. R.P. Singh, Prof. Dr. P.L. Maggu, Dr. Om Prakash, Dr. Anju Rani and discussed the growing need to form a platform to upgrade the activities in the fast growing discipline information theory, coding theory, channel and communication, in the era of internet communication and information. The proposal was accepted for the formation of the present Society "Indian Society of Information Theory and Application" (ISITA). Hence the society was formed in 1995 and was registered in Delhi at all India basis norms, with Late Prof. (Dr.) J.N. Kapur as the founder president Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Tuteja and Prof. (Dr.) D.S. Hooda as Vice Presidents and Dr. R.P. Singh as General Secretary, Dr. Om Prakash as Joint Secretary and Dr.( Km.) Anju Rani as Treasurer and many distinguished scientists as members of the council.
